When you prepare for CAEL speaking, your focus should be on speaking well, expressing yourself efficiently, and ticking the examiners boxes.
Your examiner will be looking at your organization, vocabulary, phrasing, sentence variety, grammar, and depth.
How many CAEL Speaking Questions
There are five CAEL speaking questions in the CAEL test
Question 1 asks you to talk about an experience.
Question 2 asks you to explain your preference for something.
Question 3 asks you to give a short presentation about a visual.
Question 4 asks you to summarize a written article .
Question 5 asks you to summarize a lecture.

How Long Should my Response Be?
For each of the five CAEL speaking questions, you are given some time to prepare and some time to speak.
Question 1 – you have 30 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds to speak.
Question 2 – you have 60 seconds to prepare and 90 seconds to speak.
Question 3 – you have 1 minute to prepare and 2 minutes to speak.
Question 4 – you have 1 minute to prepare and 2 minutes to speak.
Question 5 – you have 1 minute to prepare and 2 minutes to speak.
Being able to express yourself efficiently is part of the test, so you should be able to say everything you need to say within the given time. The examiner won’t hear anything you say after the timer expires, so make sure you finish before the timer stops.
